Repairing the instrument cluster and Virtual Cockpit

Whether it is a classic analogue speedometer with pixel faults and failed pointers or a completely black display in a modern Virtual Cockpit (e.g. VW, Audi) — a defective instrument cluster is not only annoying, it often leads to failing the TÜV inspection. Save yourself the extremely expensive new purchase from the manufacturer! Revonik GmbH repairs your instrument cluster quickly, professionally and up to 70 % cheaper. Including a 24-month warranty. With the original unit, vehicle-specific data is retained in many cases. Coding, basic settings or further work on the vehicle may nevertheless be required, depending on the vehicle and the repair. For private and commercial customers.

Benefits

Your benefits with
Instrument cluster repair

Pixel faults, a dark display, failed pointers or a total failure can significantly impair the use of the vehicle. Revonik tests instrument clusters and virtual cockpits listed in the product database for repairable display, lighting and electronics faults.

We test your existing instrument cluster for repairable display, lighting, pointer and electronics faults.

When the original unit is repaired, the existing mileage is not changed. Any steps required in the event of replacement or data transfer are explained in advance.

A photo or video of the fault — for example a flickering display or failed pointers — significantly improves the preliminary assessment.

Depending on the unit, we analyse the display, the power supply, the plug connections, the stepper motors and the internal electronics.

A repair can avoid replacing the entire instrument cluster, provided the specific damage can be rectified.

After the inspection from €69.00 incl. VAT we inform you about the findings, the possible repair and the further procedure.

A 24-month warranty applies to the repair service performed, in accordance with the approved terms.

Cost overview

Full transparency –
no hidden costs:

€59

What does the initial diagnosis include?

We will check your instrument cluster on our test bench for the faults you have described. The diagnostic fee will be charged in full in the event of a repair.

from €149

What is the display repair?

Replacement of defective LCD/TFT displays, rectification of pixel errors (e.g. BMW, Mercedes, Audi) and repair of the backlight.

from €199

Hardware & Virtual Cockpit repair

What is hardware repair?

Repair of failed analogue pointers (servomotors), repair of processors, memory modules and rectification of total failures in digital virtual cockpits.

from €179

Data transfer / cloning

What is the data transfer?

If the speedometer is beyond repair due to fire or severe water damage, we will transfer your original mileage and immobiliser data exactly as they are to a replacement circuit board.

Speedometer completely dark or warning lights flickering?

A defective instrument cluster not only restricts driving comfort, but is also a significant safety defect. Without a functioning speedometer or visible warning lights, there is no MOT sticker. Modern digital speedometers (Virtual Cockpit) are particularly susceptible to software and processor errors. Typical faults that we rectify:

Risks and consequences

What happens if you ignore the defect?

Loss of TÜV approval

A speedometer that cannot be read or faulty warning lights (e.g. ABS/airbag do not light up for inspection) are serious defects. You will not receive a new MOT sticker.

Risk of engine damage

If the temperature display or oil pressure warning in the speedometer fails, you will notice critical engine problems too late - a major engine failure is imminent.

Loss of the original odometer reading:

If you wait too long and the memory chip on the circuit board burns out completely, in the worst case your original vehicle data and mileage may be irretrievably lost.

Expensive new purchase

A new Virtual Cockpit from VW or Audi often costs between 1,500 and 3,000 euros, plus expensive training and coding work in the authorised workshop.

Risks and consequences

The consequences if
you do not have your unit repaired:

Do not ignore the fault: an ABS failure leads to reduced braking performance, problems with the TÜV inspection and a considerable loss in value.
The longer you wait, the more expensive the consequential damage becomes. Avoid unnecessary risks and start your repair order now.

Step 4

Payment & Returns

Once payment has been received, we will return the repaired instrument cluster to you immediately, securely packaged (postage: €14.90).

Step 5

Installation

After installation your vehicle is fully functional again. When the original instrument cluster is repaired, the existing mileage is not changed. Coding, basic settings or further work on the vehicle may nevertheless be required, depending on the vehicle and the repair.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

On this page you will find answers to frequently asked questions
about control unit repair.

Typical enquiries concern pixel faults, dark or flickering displays, failed pointers, lighting problems and total failures. Whether a repair is possible depends on the model, the cause, the device database and the condition.

No. When the original instrument cluster is repaired, the existing mileage is not changed. Please let us know if the unit has already been replaced or modified.

In most cases the instrument cluster is sent in removed. If you are unsure, have the removal carried out by a qualified workshop and send a photo of the type plate in advance.

After the unit arrives, we generally plan 2–4 working days for standard repairs. The actual duration depends on the unit, the fault pattern, the testing effort and spare part availability.
