Repairing lorry control units and reducing downtime
Every day of downtime costs your haulage business money. If key lorry control units such as the engine control unit (MCM2), the drive control unit (CPC3), the exhaust control unit (ACM) or the brake control unit (EBS) fail, you face delivery times of weeks for new parts from the manufacturer. It doesn’t have to be that way! We specialise in the rapid repair of commercial vehicle electronics. Minimise costly downtime and save up to 70 % on costs compared to buying new. With a 48-hour express service for suitable standard faults (subject to a surcharge and subject to availability), plus a 24-month warranty. In many cases, vehicle-specific data is retained on the original unit. However, programming, basic settings or further work on the vehicle may still be required, depending on the vehicle and the repair.
Your benefits with
Commercial vehicle control unit repair
With commercial vehicles, every hour of downtime costs money. Revonik tests the commercial vehicle control units listed in the product database on the basis of the unit label, the fault log, the vehicle configuration and a comprehensible description of the symptoms.
Reducing downtime in a structured way
A complete preliminary check with the part number, fault log and vehicle data speeds up the technical classification and reduces unnecessary follow-up questions.
Focus on the relevant electronics
We only test the engine, drivetrain, exhaust, brake and other commercial vehicle control units approved for Revonik.
Making proper use of J1939 data
SPN/FMI data, the part number and the vehicle configuration are more important for a reliable preliminary check than a general description of the fault.
Alternative to long spare-part lead times
If the specific defect is repairable, a repair can be an economical alternative to long delivery times or expensive new parts.
Business-to-business communication
The findings, the options and the expected procedure are agreed in a comprehensible way so that the workshop and fleet scheduling can decide.
Express assessed case by case
Standard repairs generally take 2–4 working days. A 48-hour express service is possible for suitable standard faults, at extra cost and after confirmed capacity.
24-month warranty
A 24-month warranty applies to the repair service carried out, in accordance with the approved terms.
Complete transparency for your fleet – No hidden costs:
What does the
inspection include?
We test your control unit for the causes of the fault. The fee is credited against the repair.
What is hardware repair?
Repair of faulty circuit boards, power amplifiers, communication modules and faults (e.g. in motor or drive control units).
What is the data transfer?
If the control unit is beyond repair due to severe water damage or fire, we will transfer your original chassis data and immobiliser settings exactly as they are to a replacement unit.
What happens if it is irreparable?
We offer you a fully reconditioned replacement unit that we have pre-coded. Simply fit it into the lorry and it’ll be back on the road in no time.
Common truck control units and their fault patterns
If your lorry won’t start, the gears won’t change or the AdBlue system isn’t working, the problem is usually down to the electronics. Here you’ll find the most common commercial vehicle control units that we repair every day in Kerpen.
- Symptoms: The lorry won’t start, the engine cuts out whilst driving, and it is not possible to establish a connection with the diagnostic tool.
- Common faults: Internal hardware faults, failure of the injector control system, faulty CAN bus communication.
- Symptoms: The gearbox no longer shifts, the accelerator pedal does not respond, and various instrument panel displays have failed.
- Common faults: Loss of communication with the engine control unit (MCM), internal processor faults.
- Symptoms: Loss of power (limited power mode), error messages in the exhaust system, AdBlue pump not activated.
- Error code: 2AF3EE Automatic shifting not possible
- Error code: ACFFEE Control unit A3 (CPC) is faulty
- Error code: ADFFEE Control unit A3 (CPC) is faulty
- Error code: 710202 The CAN signal from control unit A3 (CPC) is missing in the ACM (A60)
- CAN bus faults in various control units
- 760202 The power supply to the A60 control unit (Exhaust After-treatment Control Module, ACM) is faulty
- When reading the fault memory, an incorrect actual value is detected for the power supply to control unit A60 (control unit for exhaust after-treatment)
- BA0D04 The control unit's internal power supply is invalid
- EE0A03 The common electrical circuit for the solenoid valves controlling the fuel injector needles (cylinders 4, 5 and 6) is shorted to positive
- D41509 The CAN signal from component Y621 (exhaust gas recirculation valve) is missing
- 060601 The A10b control unit has detected a low voltage
- 060604 The A10b control unit has detected a low voltage or a short to earth
What happens if the lorry/commercial vehicle comes to a halt?
Huge costs associated with downtime
A stationary lorry, commercial vehicle or agricultural machine costs on average between €500 and €1,000 per day. Every day spent waiting for a new part eats into your profit margin.
Loss of customer orders
If you are unable to meet your delivery deadlines due to technical faults, you risk incurring contractual penalties and losing key regular customers.
Delivery times of several months from the manufacturer
Authorised garages often simply replace control units entirely. The problem is that there are currently severe supply shortages for many MCM2 or CPC3 control units from the manufacturer. A repair carried out by us, on the other hand, takes just a few days.
Loss of vehicle value
A faulty ECU will have a negative impact on your vehicle’s resale value. Keeping it in good condition is essential for maintaining its value.
The consequences if
you do not have your unit repaired:
Do not ignore electronic faults in commercial vehicles or agricultural machinery. A sporadic CAN bus fault can quickly lead to a total breakdown on the motorway or in the field. What can be repaired today with a bit of planning could cost you thousands of euros tomorrow in towing costs and weeks of downtime. Avoid unnecessary risks – start your repair order now.
This is how we repair your control unit
Diagnosis & Removal
Have the fault memory of the lorry/commercial vehicle read out. Print out the fault report and have the faulty control unit (e.g. MCM, CPC, ACM) removed by your garage.
Order & Shipping
Please fill in our online form. Important: Please print out the order confirmation and include it in the parcel along with the error log. Pack the device securely and send it to us.
Inspection & Repair
Once we have received your item, we will carry out a diagnostic check (subject to a charge). We will begin the repair once you have given your approval. To minimise downtime, choose our express repair service (48 hours) for standard faults.
Payment & Returns
Once the repair has been successfully completed and payment received, we will return the device to you securely packaged (postage: €14.90 incl. VAT)
Installation & continuing the journey
Simply install it in the vehicle and the engine starts again. With the original unit, vehicle-specific data is retained in many cases. Coding, basic settings or further work on the vehicle may nevertheless be required, depending on the vehicle and the repair.
Diagnosis & Removal
First read the fault memory and then arrange for the professional removal.
Order & Shipping
Fill out the online form, pack the device securely and then send it to us.
Inspection & Repair
We thoroughly inspect the device and carry out a reliable repair.
Payment & Returns
After payment, we will immediately send the repaired device back to you.
Installation
After professional installation, your vehicle will be fully functional again.

Frequently asked questions
On this page you will find answers to frequently asked questions
about control unit repair.
What information does Revonik need for a commercial vehicle?
Please send the manufacturer, model, year of manufacture, the control unit part number, the engine or transmission variant, SPN/FMI or manufacturer fault codes and a precise description of the fault. A photo of the unit label is particularly helpful.
Can truck or bus control units be tested by post?
Testing by post is possible if the unit is removed properly, packed securely and sent in fully documented. For large or unusual units we ask you to enquire in advance.
What do SPN and FMI mean?
In J1939 systems, SPN describes the monitored parameter and FMI the type of deviation detected. The combination is a diagnostic indication and does not replace testing the wiring, sensors, power supply and control unit.
How quickly can a commercial vehicle repair be carried out?
The duration depends on the type of unit, the fault pattern, spare parts and the scope of testing. Time-critical cases can be submitted for a 48-hour express service stating the part number and fault code; confirmation is only given after checking suitability and capacity.
